Education Day at the recent TRC National Event in Vancouver was the scene as a Tsleil-Waututh racing canoe was unveiled that was made from over 9000 Project of Heart tiles decorated by students from over 250 schools in British Columbia.
Ironically, only a few days after the huge event at the Pacific National Exhibition whereby the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was promoting a new relationship based on respect and reciprocity between First Nations and Canada, the Federal Government was rejecting a United Nations appeal to launch a National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Aboriginal Women in Canada.
Supporters of the UN call for an Inquiry can sign a change.org petition, demanding that the Federal Government walk the talk of truth and reconciliation and mandate that a National Inquiry begin.
