Project of Heart came to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan during a very critical time; the community took up the challenge and began to revive Aboriginal practices and to connect the Aboriginal community in Moose Jaw after years of rampant racism. One of the first actions taken by the community was to bring back the pow wow after 20 years.

When artist Jeff Cappo was brought in to create the piece for this national commemoration project, it was obvious that the exhibit had to be a pow wow drum with over 1000 Project of Heart tiles adorning the rim of the drum.  The sacred eagle is on the front of the drum. Prior to the official unveiling it was present for 2 ceremonies and was on display at the Mae Wilson Theatre and Gallery in Moose Jaw. The drum was officially presented at the second annual Moose Jaw pow wow on June 15, 2013 with the theme “Honoring the Survivors”. After the unveiling it will be permanently installed at the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery for the public to view.
