St. Pius X takes part in Project of Heart for third time

St. Pius X Catholic High School in Ottawa commemorated the Aboriginal students from  Fort McPherson Indian Residential School (Fleming Hall) in N.W.T.  as well as The Federal Hostel (Eskimo Point) in Nunavut.  The children who did not make it home from these schools are remembered as through the beautiful creations of the Pius students. Brad Boucher, Native Studies teacher at St. Pius X HS in Ottawa made history when he requested that a Project of Heart kit be sent to his school this year – it was the beginning of a learning experience that would see his school became the first-ever to complete the Project three years running! St. Pius commemorates Desmarais and Joussard residential schools

Native Studies teacher Stacy Villeneuve from St. Pius X H.S. in Ottawa and her students commemorated the lives of the students of Desmarais Indian Residential School as well as Joussard IRS both run by the Catholic Church in Alberta. After students decorated the tiles, Christopher Herodier Snowboy, a James Bay Cree, was invited to speak to the class

Manitoba residential school victims honoured by St. Piux X High School

Stacy Villeneuve, Native Studies teacher from St. Pius X Catholic High School in Ottawa, brought Project of Heart to her school this spring, and commemorated the deaths of the young students from two Indian Residential Schools in Manitoba: Assiniboia IRS (Winnipeg) and St.Boniface IRS (St.Boniface).
